Room Upgrade Reports
Came in about 10:30 am on a Monday during COVID At the front desk with an older woman I asked if I could try to check in Early I gave her my credit card I’d and Caesars Rewards Platinum card before I could ask for a comp upgrade she saw the $20 handed it back said let me see what I can do before I take that she came back and told me we could do an upgrade to the highroller view for $5 extra per night plus taxes instead of $25 per night for a total of $15 plus the resort fees I was already paying and no early check-in fee as I was staying three nights Comp already based on play which is what I took along with the $20 I gave her I could’ve also done a suite for $50 per night which would normally have gone for $150 she said room she gave me was on the 29th floor as I asked for the highest floor available at the time which she said anything on higher floor would be a suite also said the room she gave me was a larger the normal room but not a studio but it used to be a suite before valley tower was renovated the room was nice
so I didn’t get a free upgrade but it still saved me money especially as I’ve heard the early check-in fee can be as much as $50 before 4pm
Me & My GF had arrived around 1 pm in which was a early check in so as we approached the check in with no one in line we we got a young Spanish woman in here mid 20’s . After placing the 50 under my id she quickly handed it back without even checking saying they had no Complementary upgrades available
We went to check in at about 2PM local time on a Thursday. I had a folded up twenty between my license and CC. As I handed the tip sandwich over the counter, I asked the young woman if there were any complimentary upgrades available and she instantly knew what was happening. She took the twenty dollar bill, put it on the counter top and said, “let me make sure I can help you before holding on to that.”
It took maybe 2-3 minutes, but eventually she handed me my CC and license as well as some room keys. She never said she could or could not get me the upgrade, but I decided to leave the $20 on the counter for her just in case.
Sure enough, when we entered the spacious living room area of this awesome suite, I knew we got upgraded. We went from a single room with a king bed to a suite with a couch, breakfast table for four, view of the strip, his and hers sinks, stand up shower and a separate tub, plus a bedroom with a king bed and two chairs that were perfect for uh… nighttime activities.
When checking in I gave the hotel clerk 40 bucks in between my credit card and license. Asked what he could do for us and immediately called someone and gave us a beautiful Vice President Suite!
NO QUESTIONS! Loved it!
Didnt select a specific clerk, handed the clerk my credit card and ID with a 20 bill. At first she snickered, then we had small talk about my stay, then she went and spoke with a manager, came back and was able to offer me an upgrade with a strip view and a newly renovated room. checked in around 10pm
Checked with Judy. She said she noticed that we would like a suite if possible. I slid a 20.00 bill over to her. The first night we stayed in the presidential suite. That morning she called and transferred over to the executive suite for 6 days awesome lady. We always stop and see her now and get upgraded if she can. 3 out of 4 times isn’t bad!
Checked in at about 11:30 a.m. there was about three people ahead of me, but I got lucky and got a mid 20’s young gentleman. Slipped him the sandwich with a ten instead of a 20…I know (cheap). And he instantly took the 10 and got me upgraded from a crappy classic Mardi gras room to a top floor superior strip view room in the valley tower. Definite success.
It was a busy checkin time about 6pm. There was a long line and I didn’t have a choice of clerk. I handed the $20 sandwhich when asked for an ID. The clerk chuckled and asked what that was for. I said if there was anyway we could get a complimentary upgrade. She quickly handed the $20 back and said we couldn’t do a complimentary upgrade but she could offer me a upgrade for half the price. I had a choice of rooms in the valley view tower high roller or strip view. I chose to wait for a strip view room and was charged half of what the upgrade cost.
Small line on a Friday night (about 9 PM). Got to a youngish (maybe 30) man. Handed him the package with a $20, he placed it on the desk and looked into the computer. Was offered a High Roller view upgrade from a Mardi gras room. In addition was reduced one night of resort fee. My original room was comped so this made for 2 nights of fees instead of 3.
In the end I thought it was a decent upgrade probably worth about $75-$100 for my $20 investment. not mind blowing but made me appreciate the trick and gain confidence for using it next time.
