Monkey Love Band

The Monkees are an American rock and pop band originally active between 1966 and 1971, with reunion albums and tours in the decades that followed. Their original line-up consisted of the American actor/musicians Micky Dolenz, Michael Nesmith and Peter Tork with English actor/singer Davy Jones. Hot Monkey Love was founded by the late Frank LaRocka in 2003 as a tough Blues and R&B outfit to gig on the NYC blues scene. The band has released two CD’s to date: Primate Blues, and Speakin’ Evil (both on the BrotherMonk imprint). The Monks (as they are apt to be affectionately abbreviated) have since evolved into their current lineup.

Comic Con is @ home this year but that doesn't mean we can't have a little extra fun. Superstar artist and Monkees superfan Alex Ross (“Marvels”, “Kingdom Come”) is giving away a strictly limited-edition signed print of his amazing painting of the band. The sweepstakes runs until 11:59 pm PT, August 3rd, 2020. Sorry, but U.S. residents only are eligible.

Born in New York City on Halloween 1967, Adam Schlesinger grew up in Manhattan and Montclair, New Jersey, went to Montclair High School, and then got a Bachelor of Arts from Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts. That’s where he met Chris Collingwood for the first time.

Per The New York Times, Tork’s death was confirmed by his son, Ivan Iannoli, who said the cause was complications of a rare form of cancer that was first diagnosed in 2009, but a more emotional confirmation – one that we can all surely appreciate – came via a post on Tork’s official Facebook page:
